Crochet Making

We aim to start a makers' movement
that would propel the youth of Northern
Nigeria into creativity & industry

The Arty Makers Project

Most parents in rural communities in Northern Nigeria would rather send their daughters to hawk groundnuts on the streets or work as housemaids than send them to school. This is due to an existing belief that sending daughters to school does not yield the immediate financial benefits that selling on the streets does to their families.

Through our prospect, young girls are being led to the realization that education and financial security can go hand in hand. The trainings gainfully engage girls in school, and out of school in making highly marketable crochet products, at the same time, they acquire basic Maths, English, Science, and Cultural education. Our aim is to combat poverty and unemployment prevalent in the north of Nigeria.

Our Vision

Our Mission

Project Overview

We believe in the power of Education, but more powerful than that, is an Education that  leads to economic development, especially in a developing country like Nigeria.
Therefore, our vision is to start a makers’ movement that would propel young Hausa girls towards industry and financial security

Our mission is to raise an industrious generation of young girls and women in the North. We train and equip girls and young women with entrepreneurship skills through making and selling handmade toys in a bid to combat dependency, poverty and unemployment.

This project trains young girls to become industrious through training in handcraft and entrepreneurial skills.
